Tonight I pray that the sacrifice of the innocents will be remembered in the humble prayers of all Americans and that the rest of the world will join us, hand in hand, in solemn thanksgiving that the dragon has been defeated.
I also pray that all of us remember that on that awful day in September, human beings of every creed and ethnicity perished in the flames and cascading steel of those fatally wounded towers as the world watched.
I fear that in the jubilation and flag- waving that is to come, the memory of that day will be distorted in ways that marginalize people who are as deserving of mercy as all who left us that day.
Let us never forget the lessons of history or the sacrifice that made this country strong. God Bless our soldiers who struck the final blows and protect us as we sleep. God Bless the differences that make this country the beacon to the world.
But most of all, give us wisdom Lord, so that we shall never suffer this brutality again.
I’m happy the world is finally free of this demon.
Brian, I have always felt that this was necessary and inevitable, and I will lose no sleep over the death of someone who pushed the buttons that made such an evil thing happen.
I do hope that we can project, as a nation, calm resolve over this occurrence and understand that the roots of terrorism are at least as important to address as the actual terrorist cells… We are safer in much more long- lasting ways if we use our immense power and influence to improve the lives of our neighbors in this every shrinking world and never forget that exploitation of less powerful nations for ANY reason has awful consequences both to the people affected and to us, sooner or later.
I much prefer that our military be used as a last resort and that the first line of defense be an intelligent foreign policy and the benevolent use of our power, and that we cherish the lives of our soldiers and lose the notion that war is some kind of video game.

I, too, am glad he is gone, even if this was far more symbolic than something that will cripple Al-Quiada. But I agree with you, Tony, this whole “bomb them into oblivion” strategy seems to be working almost as well as it did for the Russians, and every other foreign power that has tried to reign in the more nefarious forces in the Middle East, going back to before the Ottoman Empire.
Lovely prayer, Tony, thanks.
Peace ❤
Jay
Thanks Jay… I hope that we have learned from history… I do have some hope that this administration has its act together and will leverage the new understanding into positive momentum… We should have figured out after 10 years of war, that the tip of a spear is not always the right answer.
I pray every night that our president knows that, deep in his heart. love, Tony
Hi Tony,
I don’t know what’s the meaning of “2936”.
Nikki
Hi Nikki… 2936 refers to the number of people who lost their lives on September 11, 2001 during the attacks in New York and Washington…
Some people use the number ‘3000’, because it’s hard to know… There were deaths in the aftermath, related to the rescue effort as firefighters and emergency personnel succumbed to the effects of exposure to the toxic dusts and smoke that hovered in the air at the World Trade Center site… love, Tony
